Meeting at Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation in Moscow. Interim results were communicated, among others — the Guidance document on application of the GAINS model in the state environmental management system of the Russian Federation. It was recommended to establish a working group on the GAINS model development and operation under the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.

International air pollution workshop “Saltsjöbaden III", Gothenburg, Sweden. A special working group discussed obstacles and measures for promoting a larger attention to air pollution and related measures within the EECCA countries. A need for supporting activities directed specially to air pollution problems and related challenges was recognised, as well as procedural measures for enabling a closer co-operation aimed at concrete results.
